 County Commissioners met last Monday, and by the time they reached item number 10B on the agenda, it was clear that there was no clear solution to the request made by Linda McDonald, county clerk, for more office space.
Ms. McDonald has brought up this topic before to commissioner’s court, but it was apparent that her newest request on Monday was based upon her latest assessment of overcrowding. For the past several years, speculators from all over the country have come to the Culberson County Clerk’s Office to research oil and gas mineral rights in the deed records.
Currently, the deed records are kept in large, bulky 11x17 books. Those books, over the last few years, have become cumbersome, and the clerk’s office is rapidly running out of space to store them.
