Navarette at America's Baseball Camp in Dallas area

It's Quiet Now!!!! But it won’t be for long! Eagle coaches have advised the Advocate that two-a-day football practices begin on Monday, August 4th. It doesn’t seem possible that the 2008 gridiron season is upon us but it is. Coaches are expecting a good group of kids out for football this season with the Eagles going into Division A play. We’ll see plenty of action on this practice field beginning next Monday. Oh, by the way, these practices start at 7 a.m. on August 4th! See all you football players out for the team.

Dice Navarette, of Van Horn, was a recent attendee at America’s Baseball Camp held in the Dallas area.
This premier baseball camp boasted a staff of former players and coaches from across the country.
Director of the camp was Frank Baumholtz, head baseball coach at Newburg High School in Oregon.
He was assisted by Andy Wilson, former Pittsburg Pirates player; Royce Holder, former assistant coach of the Grand Prairie Air Hogs; Jared Anderson, head baseball coach at Gunnison High School in Utah; Sam Clark, former college player for University of Alabama at Birmingham; Curt Sanders, former associate scout for the Cincinnati Reds; J.T Herak, head baseball coach at South Grand Prairie High School in Texas; Richard Martinez, current assistant coach at Angelina College; Paul Ylda, assistant coach at South Grand Prairie High School; Dennis Pelfrey, former player for the Fort Worth Cats; Joe Beck, former player for Northwood University and assistant baseball coach at Mansfield High School in Texas; and Randy Davis, former player for the Kenosha Mammoths.
During the 6-day camp, Navarette joined others from across the country in learning the skills of the game, both from the fielding as well as the hitting. He particularly liked the fielding training and played both short stop and catcher.
Navarette hopes to utilize the skills he learned for the Van Horn Eagles this spring.

It’s Pee-Wee football time
Michael Baeza and Chello Gonzales announced this week that it is time for kids to begin thinking about Pee-Wee Football.
In fact, they reported that if you’re interested in playing Pee-Wee football, you can pickup registration forms at City Hall. The deadline to register to play will be August 15th.
There will be two age groups playing this year. First is 3rd and 4th graders, and second is 5th and 6th graders.
If you have any questions, or desire further information, please give Michael Baeza a call at (432) 284-9385.
