Melodrama needs performers and stagehands Director Betty Prude is looking for area residents who would like to participate in a clever, suspenseful melodrama. It will be performed at Fort Davis National Historic Site on August 30, the Saturday of Labor Day weekend as part of the celebrations for this year’s Frontier Day. No acting experience is necessary, but people are sought that have enthusiasm, a desire to have a fun and the willingness to attend some rehearsals in August. The melodrama, entitled “To Catch a Weasel! or Hair Today – Heir Tomorrow,” was written by Karen Roach McGuire. It was previously performed to standing room-only audiences at Fort Davis NHS Festivals in 1992 and 1995. It was so well received that it is being brought back for this year’s Frontier Day. At least three women and ten men are needed for speaking parts, although some actors will only be required to say as little as three or four lines. Stage hands are also needed. If you are interested in participating in this fun, exciting performance that promises to be a thriller, please contact Mary Williams at the Fort at 426-3224 x 25 or Betty Prude at 426-3537. |
