- The Van Horn Eagle track teams sent qualifiers to the Area Meet in Wink last Thursday. And, the Eagle runners competed very well. All three of the boys relay teams and the girls relay team are headed to regional competition as well as other competitors.
Coach Luis Garcia reported the results from the Area Meet and said, “We are very proud of our kids. Nearly everybody we took to Area is going on to the regional meet which will be held in Levelland on May 3rd and 4th.”
Shown below are the Area Meet results for Van Horn competitors:
Girls Division:
4 x 400 Meter Relay: Team of Brizelda Urias, Alex Quintana, Diana Padilla, and Janice Martinez took 4th Place with a time of 4 minutes, 30 seconds. As the 4th place team, they are a regional qualifier.
Boys Division:
4 x 100 Meter Relay: Team of J.J. Baca, Ricky Ramirez, Leo Hapeman, and Alex Baca took 1st Place with a time of 43.88 seconds and they are the Area Champs. As area champs, they are also regional qualifiers.
110 Meter High Hurdles: Roman Corrales took 3rd Place with a time of 15.78 seconds. As the 3rd place finisher, he also becomes a regional qualifier.
100 Meter Dash: Ricky Ramirez took 2nd Place with a time of 10.98 seconds. As the 2nd place finisher, he also is a regional qualifier.
4 x 200 Meter Relay: Team of J.J. Baca, Ricky Ramirez, Leo Hapeman, and Alex Baca finished in 1st Place with a time of 1:32.59 and are the Area Champs. As area champs, they are also regional qualifiers.
300 Meter Hurdles: Roman Corrales took 3rd Place with a time of 42.33 seconds. As the 3rd place finisher, he also becomes a regional qualifier.
4 x 400 Meter Relay: Team of J.J. Baca, Roman Corrales, Leo Hapeman, and Alex Virdell took 3rd Place with a time of 3:36.03. As the 3rd place team, they also become regional qualifiers.
All these youth will be heading to Levelland on May 3rd. Good Luck!
