- Tuesday evening, the Van Horn Junior High honored students at an Awards Banquet held at the Van Horn Convention Center.
Following a scrumptious meal served up by student members of the Student Council, Junior High principal John Fabela thanked the students, parents and staff for the hard work put forth during the year. He reported that the hard work produced the desired results.
Then he turned the floor over to Lorena Gonzalez who introduced the presenters and announced the names of the award recipients.
Perfect Attendance: Jessie Lopez announced the winners as: K’Cee Romero, Alexandria Quintana, Isaiah Rodriguez, and Reno Carrasco.
Honor Roll: Marcia Crowley announced the winners as: 6th Grade - Starvanna Cottrell, Leslie Gonzales, Samuel Marin, Rebekah Onate, Jacquelyn Turnbow, Natalie Hernandez, Abril Padilla, and Mireya Quintana. 7th Grade - Imisha Bhakta, Savannah Corralez. 8th Grade - Sabrina Gonzalez, Isaiah Rodriguez, Felicia Morales, Kassandra Navarrette, and Beverly Rivera.
American Citizenship: Tommy Turnbow announced the winners as: 6th Grade - Michael Garcia, Jenatte King, Rebekah Onate, Andrea Vasquez, and Matthew Velez. 7th Grade - Jasmine Campa, Curtis McKee, Elijah Miranda, Silvio Navarrette, and Kerri Quiett. 8th Grade - Fatima Corrales, and Martha Shea Jackson.
President’s Award for Educational Achievement: Janelle North presented the winners as: 6th Grade - Michael Garcia, Jenatte King, Ryan Martinez, German Rodarte, and Jacquelyn Turnbow. 7th Grade - Winners were awarded by Glenn Humphries. Elijio Lozano, Elijah Miranda, Silvio Navarrette, Jacque Ojeda, and Vernon “Alex” Robinson. 8th Grade - Winners were awarded by Michael McBirnie. Fatima Corrales, Janice Martinez, and Martha Shea Jackson.
