Van Horn UIL teams do well at Monahans Meet

Congratulations District Champs! The Van Horn Eagles had little trouble besting Ft. Hancock Tuesday evening in front of a packed home crowd. UIL alignment told
The University Interscholastic League (UIL) officials in Austin, last week, announced the district alignments for various sports for the next two years.
Culberson County-Allamoore ISD Athletic Director Joe Salinas had heard rumors that our alignment might be changed but when the announcement was made, it was little changed.
According to Salinas, in football our district remains the same in terms of opponents. Van Horn’s district football opponents will be Iraan, Marfa, McCamey, and Wink.
The difference for the next two years will be that we are now in District 5-A in Division II. What that means, according to Salinas is, “Our district will now only advance two teams into the playoffs instead of 3.”
Salinas further noted that in basketball, “Our district is changed by Wink moving to District II. We’ll be in District 8-A in Division I for basketball.”
Our opponents in this new district will be El Paso Harmony Science Academy, Marfa, and Ft. Hancock.
According to Salinas, the alignment for other sports will be announced at a later date.
