- The Van Horn Lady Eagle softball team has played two home games in a row to close out their home schedule for the season. Last Saturday, they took on the Lady Bucks of Alpine and had a very tough time of it. The strong Lady Buck team put them away in fairly short order, winning the game by the 15 run rule. The girls, however, were not daunted by the Saturday defeat on Tuesday afternoon, as the hosted the Lady Owls from Reagan County in Big Lake. In this contest, a real nail-biter, the lead kept changing as first one then the other would take the lead. The Lady Eagles played their hearts out, exhibiting good pitching, fielding and hitting throughout. At the end of regulation, the Lady Eagles had once again tied the game up and they had to go into overtime. In the overtime inning, the Lady Eagles prevailed and emerged victorious by 1 run to close out their season home stand.
