- Eagle athletes have been busy in the past week, but the results of their activity has been spotty this week due to TAKS testing.
What we do know is that the Van Horn Eagle track teams has reported on the results from the Comanche Relays on February 23rd, at Fort Stockton, and the Sanderson Meet run on February 29th.
In the Comanche Relays, coach Luis Garcia reports the following results:
3200 Meter Run: Eleno Mendez, 4th.
800 Meter Run: Malachi Marin , 3rd.
110 High Hurdles: Ubaldo Loya, 3rd.
300 Meter Intermediate Hurdles: Ramon Corrales, 4th.
1600 Meter Run: Eleno Mendez, 6th.
1600 Meter Relay: Team of Alex Baca, Malachi Marin, Damian Seijas, and Ubaldo Loya, 6th.
In the JV Division at the Comanche Relays, our kids did as follows:
3200 Meter Run: Julio Baeza, 4th; and Brandon Onate, 5th.
110 Meter High Hurdles: Ramon Corrales, 6th.
1600 Meter Run: Julio Baeza, 4th.
Coach Luis Garcia reported that at the Sanderson Meet last Saturday, “Our kids performed well and we set some new personal bests.” They brought home some 11 medals from the meet, and finished 2nd overall.
The meet results are as follows:
3200 Meter Run: Eleno Mendez, 1st; Adrian Mendez, 3rd.
400 Meter Relay: Team of Alex Baca, Ubaldo Loya, Jacob Corralez, and J.J. Baca, 2nd.
800 Meter Run: Malachi Marin, 1st.
110 Meter High Hurdles: Ubaldo Loya, 1st’ Ramon Corrales, 3rd.
100 Meter Dash: Ricky Ramirez, 4th.
800 Meter Relay: Team of Leo Corral, J.J. Baca, Damian Seijas, and Luis Navarrette, 3rd.
400 Meter Dash: Alex Virdell, 4th.
300 Meter Intermediate Hurdles: Ramon Corrales, 4th.
200 Meter Dash: Jacob Corralez, 1st.
1600 Meter Run: Eleno Mendez, 2nd; Adrian Mendez, 4th.
1600 Meter Relay: Team of Alex Baca, Malachi Marin, Ubaldo Loya, and Jacob Corralez, 2nd.
High Jump: Ubaldo Loya, 3rd.

Oasis in the Desert Classic

The Van Horn Eagles baseball team hosts the Oasis in the Desert Classic baseball tournament this week.
Tournament action commences at 9:30 this morning and continues throughout tomorrow and Saturday.
