- The weather was a bit breezy and chilly last weekend but baseball fans who braved the temperatures got their fill of the sport at Clark Field. The three-day baseball tournament pitted players from Marfa, San Elizario, Ft. Stockton, Fabens, Anthony, Monahans, Immanuel Christian and Van Horn. For Van Horn Eagle fans, the game Thursday evening was perhaps the chilliest, however, the Eagles emerged victorious over Immanuel Christian, putting them in the winners bracket. They won the game 7 to 6. Then on Friday evening, the Eagles played their second round game against the Monahans Lobos. In that game, still a bit on the chilly side, the Lobos proved too much for our Eagles as they defeated them 18 to 5. That defeat set the stage for the Saturday matchup with the Eagles playing San Elizario for the tournaments #3 spot. In that game, the Eagles took an early lead only to see it fly away. The San Elizario Eagles beat our Eagles by a score of 12 to 3 to capture the tournaments # 3 spot. Our Eagle return to district action next week as they take in the Kermit Yellowjackets here at Clark Field. Game time has been set for 4 p.m. for the JV squad, and 7 p.m. for the varsity.
