Meet the Rodeo Queen Candidates

Rodeo Queen Candidates are: Lower left - Anneliese Banta; Lower right - Jeanette Hinojos; and middle - Desirae Brewster.

Anneliese Banta
Anneliese Banta is the 11 year old daughter of Byk and Ann Banta, of Van Horn.
Anneliese’s primary interest is in animals. Many people have commented on the way animals seem drawn to her.
One of the things Anneliese likes to do most is ride horses. She frequently helps her father with ranch work on the family ranch, and occasionally accompanies him to day work at other ranches.
Anneliese also enjoys swimming, drawing and designing clothes and origami. Art and science projects are her favorite subjects while home schooling.
Anneliese is sponsored by Banta Ranches.

Desirae Brewster
Desirae Brewster is the 16 year old daughter of Lane and Beth Brewster.
Desirae’s primary interest is in horses. She loves to ride and just be around them.
Desirae also participates in Team Penning, 4-H and National Honor Society. Those three events are some of her most rewarding activities that she is involved in.
Desirae is being sponsored by Culberson Gin.

Jeanette Hinojos
Jeanette Hinojos is the 17 year old daughter of Artemio and Anna Hinojos.
She is currently a senioir at Van Horn High School, and is involved in the High School Band and 4-H activities.
Jeanette’s interests include going to the ranch with her dad, riding horses, and hanging out with family and friends.
Jeanette is being sponsored by Baeza & Baeza Ranch.


Dodson's grandson is Harker Heights grad

George B. Dodson, son of Farley and Cindy (step mother) Dodson, of Pensacola, Florida, and grandson of Hersha Dodson, of Van Horn, recently graduated from Harker Heights High School in Harker Heights, Texas.
Commencement was held at Bell County Expo Center in Belton with 450 graduating seniors.
Dodson, born in El Paso, moved to Van Horn in July 1990 to live with his father and grandmother. He attended school here from the 3rd through the 6th grade, where he was well known.
He will continue to reside in Harker Heights until the fall at which time he will enroll in Central Texas College at Killeen. He is not sure what his major will be at this time, as he has many interests.
Grandmother Hersha Dodson expressed her pride in Dodson’s accomplishments.
