Culberson Hospital boasts of a state-of-the-art telemetry unit

Culberson Hospital’s director of nursing services, Sharon Rust, oroudly shows off the hospitals state of the art telemetry unit. She said, “Thomason in El Paso doesn’t have anything any better!”

-
Culberson County Hospital has announced the addition of new telemetry equipment that enables hospital staff to monitor the vital signs and important information of eight patients simultaneously.
Not only does the new telemetry system offer increased monitoring, it has an electronic memory that allows doctors or nurses to review patient information for the past 72 hours, instead of the standard 24. Culberson Hospital’s new system also includes two bedside monitors for emergency rooms that can be viewed at the nursing station and in the Emergency room.
“We are excited about this new technology that makes it possible for us to track the health of our patients more quickly and effectively. With this new system, doctors and nurses can continue to provide top quality care for everyone who visits the hospital,” said Culberson County Hospital Administrator Ladelle Bates.
Additionally, Culberson Hospital’s new system enables doctors to view the patient’s information from any computer with internet access, allowing specialists in El Paso or Odessa and emergency room doctors to work together remotely on patient treatment.
The nursing unit has also added four ambulatory transmitters that make it possible for staff to monitor the condition of patients who are moving around the hospital. The transmitters run on AA batteries, giving more freedom for patients.
Located in Van Horn, Texas, Culberson County Hospital is a critical access hospital serving people in Culberson County and surrounding areas.

It’s April and you know what that means in Van Horn - CLEAN-UP. Read more about it in this issue and start thinking what you can do to help in this annual emphasis in our town. Of course, I look forward to the time when the pride in our town is at the point that we don’t have to go all out once a year, but rather it is done on a daily or weekly basis and never gets to the point of needing a big clean-up. It’s just a matter of a change in the mindset and developing the habits needed to take care of trash before it becomes a big problem. We can do that, I know we can!

I Wonder........
I wonder..... what on earth happened to our baseball team in Marfa last night. Oh well, maybe just a little dose of humility will be good to see you through the rest of district play. You’ll be back to normal next Tuesday night against Ft. Davis. I just know you will!
I wonder......what Jesus saw in us to make Him willing to die on the Cross to provide for our Salvation. And if He has ever been sorry for it.
I wonder...... if you’ll join me in worshipping our Risen Lord this Sunday. No, not necessarily in my church, but in some church. It’ll make Easter Sunday more special. I promise.
I wonder..... what in the world President Obama was thinking when he said during a speech on his recent trip, “America is not a Christian nation”. I bet that made a few of our founding fathers roll over in their graves!
I wonder...... if all those who are donating their time to coach and referee the Little Dribblers games know how much they are appreciated. We have some really good little basketball players in the making. They’re amazing to watch and a lot of fun.

You know there is a National Day for many things. Some of them are kind of silly, and others deserve merit. Such is the case for this one - National Teach Your Child to Save Day on April 21st.
BauerFinancial, Inc., the nation’s premier bank rating and research firm, would like to remind parents, teachers, guardians, mentors, and anyone else who has influence on children, That April 21, 2009 is National Teach Your Child to Save Day.
Does your child have a savings account yet? If not, what are you waiting for? Take your child to your bank and show him or her around. Open a savings account and explain how the interest earned will make their money grow. This simple act today will help produce more responsible consumers tomorrow.
Here’s a few suggestions they give for teaching your child to save:
* If you are able to match funds, whether partially or dollar for dollar, it will help make your child’s goals more attainable while still giving them the sense of accomplishment.
* Don’t just take your child shopping with you, but discuss how much things cost.
* Teach your child how to budget his or her allowance. The American Bankers Association suggests teaching your child to put some money away for the long-term in an investment fund; short-term savings in a bank; and spending money in a jar, piggy bank or wallet. You may also encourage children to save part of their spending money for charity.”
