- Van Horn’s 60th Annual Culberson County Livestock Show is now history, but what a history it was.
The Livestock Auction sale, held at the Community Center last Saturday evening brought in over $35,325 for Van Horn’s 4-H exhibitors. Not bad for a small town with a struggling economy.
And, the auction sale raised over $10,300 to benefit the family of Ray Pernell and help with coming medical expenses. Again, a pouring out of the heart of this community to help someone in need.
Our hat’s off to the Livestock Show’s Executive Committee, County Extension Agent Elaine Koch, 4-H Adult leaders, and 4-H exhibitors for pulling off such a great event here.
The Executive Committee is made up of Lane Brewster, chairman; Eli Torres, Vice-Chairman; Kelly Clark, Secretary; and Susie Hinojos, Treasurer.
Livestock Show judges this year were James Duffy, of Roswell, New Mexico, who judges livestock, and Don Kelso, of Sanderson, who judged rabbits and poultry.
The Livestock Show’s auctioneers were Bucky Etheridge, Marcus Etheridge and Jason Owen.
And, Efrain Hinojos and crew were in charge of the barbecue which was served up Saturday evening.
