Show and Sell will offer much as well....
Lighted Christmas Parade ushers in holiday season
-
Van Horn’s Convention Center and Main Street will host their annual Lighted Christmas Parade and Christmas Show and Sell this Saturday, December 13. This special time ushers in the Christmas Season here in town and livens the community’s “Christmas Spirit.”
The event promises to provide a fantastic opportunity for families to see Santa Claus, enjoy the always wonderfully done lighted parade floats and shop the gift ideas that will be on display in the Clark Hotel Museum.
All of the evening’s events will be centered at the courtyard of the Clark Hotel Museum, but townspeople are welcome, as always to watch the parade from their vehicles, or from the curb anywhere along the parade route. This year’s parade route will go from the Convention Center to the Christian Shelter. The parade will begin at 6:30 pm. The Show and Sell event will begin at 5:00 pm. And the vendor booths will be open until 9:00 pm.
Main Street’s Show and Sell will feature several vendors who will provide good gift ideas for the giving season and will also be selling great things to eat. The vendors will be both inside the museum and in the courtyard of the museum. One special feature of this year’s Show and Sell is that the Museum Quilters will have a booth with handmade home goods like placemats, potholders, aprons and more.
The winners of the parade float contest will be announced shortly after the parade is over. Parade winners will receive prize money donated each year by the Van Horn Chamber of Commerce. Many floats are expected for the event with themes and fun decorations to highlight the joy of the Christmas Season and provide a joyous “wow” factor to parade watchers.
The parade usually ends around 7:00 to 7:30. After that, everyone is then encouraged to gather at the Museum to enjoy each other and the great sense of community that results from events like this. Of course, support for the vendors is always welcome and the fun, great handmade crafts and homemade foods are always worth the investment.
Santa and community fun…you just can’t beat life in Van Horn. See you Saturday!
